Speaking of obstacles, I am already overwhelmed with the things we are doing. Biggest obstacle, I fear is setting up a classroom for the first time. I am sure I will get a lot of ideas from my Practicum II and Student teaching experience. It will be challenging to figure out how to setup a room, what to put on the wall or bulletin board.
How to set up the rules and regulation to use class time effectively?
Dealing with students’ emotions and helping them. Where do you draw the line? We wish the best for students but sometimes administration and law could huge obstacles.
We will encounter various types or parents, over protective, over achievers and overly disconnected to their children’s education. How would you involve disconnected parents? It will be a tough learning process on how to deal with parents. Being substitute teacher, and a PTA mom I see some disconnected parents have no time or desire to participate in school activities. With diverse culture it could be a struggle. As it is, teachers are always multitasking and are short on time. Time will limit our expectation on things we would like to achieve as an effective teacher. If we keep our obstacles in mind and train ourselves to overcome it. It will take time and practice.
